Release note
When part of a rule cannot be tested, the agent says which part
Some rules cannot be tested here yet: a support level drawn by eye on a chart, a rule on trading volume, a rule that reacts to news. Until 11 October a request built on one of these could end in a reply that did not say what the trouble was.
What the reply says now. What the agent understood: the share, the period, a stop if you asked for one. Then the part it cannot test, in your own words, with one sentence on why. Then that nothing was run and nothing was charged.
What it offers. Up to three tests that do run, on the same share over the same period. Where one part of a longer rule is the trouble, the first offer is your own request with only that part taken out, and it says so.
What it will not do. It does not drop the part and run the rest without telling you. That would test a different rule from the one you asked for.
Ideas that still cannot be tested include orders placed during the day, candlestick and chart patterns, support and resistance levels, trading volume, earnings dates, news, options and short selling.
Update, 15 October 2026: short selling is no longer on that list. A rule can now sell a share short (see A rule can now sell a share short).
