Release note
Use Quantis Trade from your AI assistant with a personal API key
Quantis Trade now runs a remote MCP server at quantistrade.co.uk/mcp. An AI assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol can use it to search our evidence corpus, explain metrics, estimate costs and, if you allow it, run backtests on your account. You connect with a personal API key created in Settings. The setup guide is at /docs/mcp.
Personal API keys. Create a key in Settings under API keys. It is shown once, and we store only a hash of it. Every key can use the free read tools; running backtests is a separate permission, off by default. Keys have an expiry date, can be revoked at once, and each has an activity log of every call made with it. A key works only on the MCP address: it can't sign in, and it can't trade, touch paper portfolios, publish, change settings or billing, delete anything or read another user's data. Keys are rate-limited.
Free tools. Search the evidence corpus (always with the number of runs matched against the total), list the community templates with their house backtests, explain a metric as the result card does, describe our methodology, estimate a backtest's cost and the rules it would run before you spend anything, and fetch one of your own results.
Tools that spend tokens. Running a backtest or a goal search goes through the same path as the website, so the result, your test ledger and any refunds are the same as on the site. Each call must state the most it may spend; the price is checked against that limit and your balance before anything runs, and a refused request charges nothing. Since 29 September a backtest call can also take your amount, currency, broker and share mode.
What can connect today. Claude Code (one command, shown on the docs page), the Claude API's MCP connector, the OpenAI API's remote MCP tool, and any client that can send a bearer token over Streamable HTTP. The claude.ai and ChatGPT apps can't connect for most people yet, because they expect an OAuth sign-in, which we haven't built. On claude.ai a key can only be added through Anthropic's request-headers option, which is in beta for a limited set of organisations.
