Release note
Also new on 27 September: UK and European shares, strategy compare, alerts and more
Alongside the bigger changes of 27 September, several smaller features went live the same day. In brief:
Free trial. New accounts now get 1,000 free trial tokens, up from 100. Update, 29 September 2026: From 29 September new accounts get 500 free tokens once their email address is verified; accounts that already had a trial keep their tokens. See our 29 September entry. From 4 October 2026 the trial is 1,000 tokens.
UK and European shares. 178 London and large European listings can be backtested in their own currency, with London prices converted from pence to pounds. Each backtest uses one currency: a basket that mixes pounds and dollars is refused before any charge. The default benchmark is the local index fund, for example ISF.L (an iShares FTSE 100 ETF) for pounds.
Result card in three layers. A short verdict with a money line, all the statistics one click away, and a "How was this calculated?" layer with the formula behind each number and a download to reproduce the run.
Compare strategies. Pick two to four saved strategies and see their equity curves and drawdowns side by side over the period they share, with a warning when the tests differ, for example in currency, bar frequency or universe.
Strategy health. Each paper-deployed strategy gets a daily check of its live behaviour against what its backtest led us to expect, with a Health badge and a plain explanation when it drifts.
Signal alerts and notifications. Switch on an end-of-day alert for a saved strategy and you are told when its signal changes, based on daily closing prices. A notification bell collects alerts, and you can ask to be notified when a backtest finishes.
Weekly summary email. On Mondays we email a summary of your own account (paper portfolios, strategy health, signal changes and activity), only in weeks with something to report. Tips and product news are included only if you tick the box for them, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
Deep Dive. One-stock reports built from SEC filings and our own price data, with every section sourced and dated and a "What this doesn't tell you" list.
Prove it. A set of six attacks tries to break a backtest result, such as delaying its signals, raising its costs and replacing its entries with random ones that spend the same time in the market. Each attack shows its method and pass rule, and the verdict says how many the strategy survived.
