Getting started
The two agents
The Strategy Agent tests rules on past prices. The Research Agent answers questions and says where each figure came from. Each has its own page and its own box.
Which one to use
| If you want to | Use | For example |
|---|---|---|
| See what a rule would have done | Strategy Agent | Golden cross strategy on SPY over the last 10 years |
| Compare buying a share with simply holding the market | Strategy Agent | What would have happened if I bought Nvidia 5 years ago |
| Know about a company | Research Agent | Tell me about Apple |
| Rank companies by a figure | Research Agent | Which stocks are up the most this year? |
Why there are two
Testing a rule and answering a question are different jobs. The Strategy Agent reads your words as a rule and replays it on past prices. The Research Agent looks figures up in stored prices and company filings and says where each one came from.
The site does not guess which job you meant: you choose the page, and each box says what it does.
Typed it in the wrong box?
If the Strategy Agent cannot read your words as a rule, it says so and asks, and nothing is charged. A question about a company or the market belongs in the Research Agent's box.
